§ 4.24.020. Derricks—Construction

  • All derricks, as herein before defined, constructed in the city shall be built and composed of non-combustible materials, except that the derrick floors, engine house floors, pump-house floors, pipe-racks, sills, postings, walkways, mud-ditches, bull-wheels, calf-wheels, and band wheels may be constructed of wood, provided, however, that any derrick constructed in accordance with American Petroleum Institute Standards No. 47th edition, of August 1935, shall be acceptable hereunder.

    Whenever, in its judgment, the council shall deem it necessary for the protection of any public or private property, or persons it may require and order that any such derrick, its appurtenances and appliances, be completely enclosed with and by the use of galvanized iron, and the permittee shall, within five days after service upon him of a written notice of such order of the council, make, or cause to be made, and installed, such enclosure.
